Tallinn Fashion Week 2016 day 3
Marimo Fashion wasn’t the most exciting collection I’ve seen. I did like the color palette that was used, especially the blush tones. Also I liked the somewhat minimalistic vibe mixed with girly and feminine lace. However I do wish there was something more to what was shown. In some parts it fell like the collection was rushed.
Mammu Couture – if you like over the top dresses then this is something for you. There were frills, tulle, lace, bows, statement sleeves and sheer panels. Maybe too much of everything and it felt over done. For me personally, it didn’t really need all the bells and whistles and the cherry on the top. This collection was filled with beautiful girly dresses that attracts anyone’s attention. My favorites are the black and nude embellished dresses and don’t get me started over the grayish blue one! One tip for the future though, some of the tops were quite see trough and seeing as a dress like this would be worn in at a event with many photographers snapping pictures all night long, then the showing bra isn’t the most classiest move.
Liivia Leškin was another unexciting collection to add to this day. I feel bad saying that it looked a little depressing. I love layers, texture and monochromatic vibes – that were all represented in this collection – but this fell short. Maybe because it was meant for more older crowd and it left me wanting more? With all these focus points you could create one strong outstanding structured collection but it didn’t happen here.
Vilve Unt showed us the granny chic vibes with the hair and glasses. The classical designs were topped off with sparkly socks and brogues. I loved the textures of mohair sweaters and sparkled fabrics. The show was also presented in an interesting way where the “old and gray” kept walking throughout the show back and forth really slowly wearing the simple minimal gray garments. My favorite part has to be the sparkle tights mixed with sparkle knitted dresses and boots.
Kirill Safonov surprised us with a real art show. All the dresses were extremely detailed with prints, embellishments and sequin. The fabric choice was mostly neoprene but there was also some feathers, fluff and silky materials. This well crafted collection deserves a hat off and the show was outstanding to show off even more drama.
Year by Raivo Holm – this sophisticated line was full of hidden material gems. I loved how the dark fabrics had texture that weren’t so visible in the first glaze. The patterns were classical such as polka dots, gingham and hounds tooth.
